How much would 4.88 gears be?

About $1200 parts/labor for front and rear.

You really need to shop around. The price seems to depend on the location. Up here in MA I got estimates anywhere from $1200 to $2500 - that's parts and labor front and rear. Make some calls in your area.

X2 location

$2200-$2300 here in CT. A shop that does gearing all the time will be less. I've seen as low
as $1000 in some areas.
