Gears for 2.4L TJ

A friend just bought a used 2003 2.4L TJ with the 5spd manual tranny and stock 4.11 gears.
The TJ has a 4" lift and 285/75R16 (33x10.5x16) tires.

What´s the right gearing for this setup? 4.56 or 4.88?

Or isn´t it worth the money and 4.11 is still ok for 33s?

Thanks for your help.

gearing is always worth the money if you have the money to spend....he might be better off buy an 8.8 with 4:10s to match and putting that in the rearend with a locker.....i ran 4:10s with 36s and just had to gas it harder to climb stuff with my 4 banger...i did upgrade to the 8.8 after breaking many rear axles though
"its a jake thing you wouldnt understand"

I have the 2004 2.4l wrangler with the 5 speed manual. I've run 4.10s stock and with 31s, and 4.56 with 31s. 4.56 gears will return you to slightly better than stock with 31s. I haven't tried it yet, but I will be going to 4.88s when I go to 33s.

I regeared from 4.10 to 4.88 on my 1999 TJ 2.5 manual trans with 33s and I would have regretted only going 4.56...4.88 also leave just enough gear if you decide to upgrade to 35s
When I had 4.10 and 33s, 5th gear was unusable on the highway...but I do live in North Georgia with some hills so if you live somewhere flat your experience will vary.

TJ V8 truck build in progress. Check out my build thread...
