No don't run it without any flares. It looks a little ridiculous since all of the holes are still there. If you want to get some more mud on your car, maybe you should stop being such a bitch-tit and get into some deeper stuff.

Really the reason you're friend is getting muddy is because his tires probably stick out past the fender flares. So get some wider tires. I have 255/15/70s and those get my Wrangler plenty muddy. Of course, I would actually recommend spending the money on some 31". But no, don't bother removing the fender flares, that will look ridiculous. Unless you swap 'em for some tube fenders

Actually think its also the need for wider rims, or at least rims with more back spacing which will allow your wheels and tires to stick out futher outside the flares. I wouldn't run without the flares either, as mentioned. How bout some pics????

Not yet, the girlfriend had the camera all weekend. I will take some when I get off from work. They look a little funny right now since I am running a 2.5" suspension lift, a 1.25" BL, but only 32" tires haha

Ohh you can also see how bad my tie rod was messed up by the way the tires are pointing lololol

make sure to check you state laws regarding tire coverage before taking off your flares.

Do any of your local cops bust people for the tires sticking out ?
That might be reason enough to leave them on.?

Well... since you asked...
I think it's one of the stupidest things I've heard of in a long time.
It's not going to "look cool" it's going to look like your dumb a$$ took a sawzall to your Jeep.

But it's YOUR Jeep, you fug it up however you want to.

Sheesh, if you just want to cruise around with mud on your jeep, get a shovel and throw it up on there.

As mentioned before, be sure to check with your local LEA and see what the requirements are for tire coverage. It may turn out to be a lit more expensive than you think.

No one. He asked for opinions, and that is mine.

Would it have been better if I had said something like "Oh my goodness! That sounds like a WONDERFUL idea! It will look uber cool and custom and besides you'll be able to sling all the mud you want to everywhere!!"

Sorry I can't do that. My past experience working in the collision repair industry, tells me it's just not a good idea.

Cutting the fenders so that they are flat will structurally weaken them, making them worthless in the event of a collision. By removing the outer edge of the fenders, it will also decrease their rigidity, thus making it likely that the littlest pressure will bend the sheet metal thereby making it unsightly.

Then there is the whole question of aesthetics. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If that's the look the OP wants, and he thinks it looks good.. who am I to differ? Like I said, it's not MY Jeep.

Not that I object to the mud part. We all get a kick out of having a grubby Jeep sometimes. I've parked mine dripping with mud a few times and very much enjoyed the reaction I got from it.

Psst... Sam!

Just so you know. I wasn't trying to bust your ballz, I was just hoping to keep you from doing something that you might later regret.

Keep in mind one other thing. You may be in tight with the boys in blue in your neck of the woods... but if you travel outside your home area, you won't have the home court advantage

my 2cents, you really dont want a whole lotta tire sticking out any way or youll end up like me paying out the a$$ on weds for a new windshield. And I have flares. Plus my flares completely cover my tires, but my jeep always comes out covered in mud. Good to here that ur local po's don't bother the C/O's up there either

Here in my part of NJ, the cops not only leave you alone, they will sometimes give you a thumbs up if they see lots of mud covering your Jeep. I was out at the Chatsworth pit a couple of saturdays ago and the only place you could see the green paint was on the tailgate.

The MV inspectors on the other hand will fail you for not having the tires covered.

Is your arm tired from patting yourself on the back collision expert?

He was talking about cutting the fender flairs which has nothing to do with the structural integrity of the fenders.... Granted I think it isn't a good idea their is a difference between giving an opinion and being a complete jacka$$. but hey if you are miserable and need to spread ur misery... good luck!
