getting ready for u-pol raptor.

I ordered my u-pol rator to spray the tub of my jeep. I will start disassembling and prepping this weekend and will spray next weekend. I have a few questions for anyone doing this before:

I had some minor surface rust on the passenger side which I painted over with por-15 should I take this down to bare metal and then use the raptor or should I just scuff and paint?

Should I paint the top of the 'bed' rails or not - I run a hardtop in the winter and a softtop in the summer. Also, the seal has come off the top of the rail.

What is the best scuffing method?

Thanks in advance.

Painted my bed rails and i'm glad I did. It protects them when your hauling topless.

Getting a couple of the red scuff pads should be enough to get into the finish.

I'm not 100 percent sure but I thought you could paint over por-15, should be no problem there.

Sprayed the raptor today

First off, this stuff shoots so super easy. If you are on the sitting on the fence on to try this - go for it.

As far as road noise - I will let you know as soon as I get a seat and a seatbelt back in. Total time to disassemble, prep, tape and spray was about 6 hours by myself btw.

Road noise update

It keeps down road noise almost as good as carpet. However - I have left out the back windows and seat as now I could care less if it rains in!

Tub Spray

Did you use the can or sprayer rig. I thought getting a few cans of the liner stuff and go at it with the proper surface prep. Pics looked great and you convinced me to line mine as well. And what about the roller application

I wonder how it holds up compaired to some of the others out there Line-x, Herculiner, ect. I have been wanting to do this for quite awhile and decided to bite the bullet. I got a quote from the Line-x shop here for around $500. If this is just as good im sold!

I chose this as another forum had a long thread on it and it was stated that it holds up as well as line-x. Only problem is that it turned out too good - now I have my father's truck to bed line

really impressed by the results. I'll add this to my list. What was all entailed in your prep work? (grit of sandpaper?)

Did you just tape it off with blue painters tape?

How has the Raptor liner held up for you? Fade or chip or anything?

U-pol Raptor is the "daddy" of all liners, I went to the U-pol factory in England and they have the stuff sprayed on the entrance floor where 200+ employees pass everyday. After 5 years, the stuff is still going strong. I have also heard that you can get it in different colours.
I was also reading the other day that when classics are benign restored, they use raptor on the inner and outer floors.

It looks really good. How many coats were you able to do with the 4 bottles that kit came with?

I see this thread was started over a year ago...
is there any one who knows how many bottles it will take? is the 4 in the package enough? I'd like to save on shipping by ordering all at once, if possible

I just bought the 4 bottles that came in the kit - put 3 full coats and then hit some spots. I have a half bottle left for touchups.
