goin a lil faster?

anybody know anything to make my 4 cyl 97tj go a little faster up the hills? because when goin up to the mountains on highways that are 70 it wont ride any faster than like 65 up the hills, not big hills, little hills.

stupid question i know but i just thought i'd ask. i recently put my studded tires on and they're a bit smaller. will that help the speed at all?

haha thanks guys

yes the smaller tire will help a little. is you jeep auto or manual? if auto it should kick down when you put your foot into it up the hill. if manual, just put her in 4th if its a 5speed and 5th if its a 6speed going up the hill. that'll help you out some also.

Yeah those are real junk. But I will say that my Dad ended up with one for free and stuck it in his 34ft Motor Home (Ford Triton V-10) just to see what would happen. He actually saw an increase in fuel economy. He went from 8mpg to 10mpg on the same stretch of highway.

ya i tend to downshift to 4th i was just worried about that hurting the car eventually cuz --> im going in 5th prolly about 70-75 on flat --> get to hill and it slows to 60-65 --> downshift to 4th and accel back up to 70. could doing this repeatedly hurt the car?

thanks for the help guys. really good people on here.

no but look ahead and downfhist before it slows down, it will save gas, you wont ahve to give it so much gas to get back up to speed as your giving it gas to go uphill

Here ya go jj. a new set of studs works nicely on icy roads. The holes you see on some "winter" tires are to install studs where they are legal to have on the road.

SKI You could always regear.
