Are the locks to keep people from stealing the battery? I guess I can't really a point in them. I do however live out in the sticks.

I used to use this style lock and I used to think it worked great, too... until the day I took my Jeep in for an oil change and I forgot to leave them the key to the lock. With nothing more than his bare hands, the tech managed to remove it in a matter of seconds. Seriously, he got it off so quickly that he didn't even bother to come ask me for the key.

Needless to say, I promptly threw it in the garbage and replaced it with this one by Tuffy:

This one seems much more sturdy.

Smittybuilt, Hard to align. A pain to get adjusted right, and dont drop the hood something will get bent. Fender, hood or the lock itself. Not recommended, but I have a slightly used set available. Make offer. Lol!

Interesting... Thank you for the info. does the tuffy one works the same way as the one I posted? Attaches to the hood Catch?

No, the Tuffy bolts directly to the Jeep itself (inside the grille). You won't have to fiddle with it like the cheaper lock, taking it off and reinstalling it every time you open the hood. It'll also do a better job of securing the hood.
