Good Deal for 1st Jeep?

Want to run this by the experts here first...

2004. I6. Auto. Sport.
88K miles.
1 owner. All service records.
Full doors, hard and soft top.
30" tires. 1 yr old. Stock rims.
No other add ons/mods. Everything else stock.

Asking 12,000.

Wondering what you guys think is a good price?
Will be my first one and don't want to get ripped off.

Thanks!

Not the X, Sahara or Rubicon.

Have you blue booked it? or NADA?

For future reference, it is an I6 not a V6

Age of tires not the issue- it's mileage. Second, have a mechanic check the thing out. There are highway miles and hard miles. Then, with the overall condition in mind follow Cons_Table advice and check NADA and Kelly Bluebook and factor in any needed repairs.

Fixed =)

KBB has it valued at 12,330/excellent, 11,600/good, 10,430/poor.

Tires have less than 5K on them.
Interior/Exterior in great condition. Fenders are a little faded. Test drive went well.
Haven't taken to mechanic yet, but will definitely before buying.

I would say, assuming everything checks out, it might not be a bad buy. It's not a steal by any means...but it's a fair price. I'd still try to see if you could haggle with him at all and see if he'll budge on price.

It appears to be average for my area (NOVA), I got my '05 Willy's with 94K (I6, 6-Speed) for $12,500 in Sept.

Thanks. I'm certain I can get him down to 11,000. He kind of hinted that he is eager to sell and willing to drop.

Looks like a good buy. It's not a steal if you've been holding out for one, but that seems about average. At least for my area.. The market can differ from place to place.

Goodluck

Thanks man. Definitely going to try to get it for under 11. If he doesn't budge much, I may just move on...

What kind of rear end does the jeep have? If the rear axle has a plastic plug on the back then it's a Dana 35 and if it has a metal fill plug it's a Dana 44. The Dana 44 is the better of the two especially if you plan on running over 33 inch tires. I wish I would have known that before I bought my jeep so I'd check that.

Thanks for all the replies/help. Just trying to assure I don't get ripped off.

Was able to talk the guy down to $10,000. Original asking price was 12.

Taking to my mechanic tomorrow. Assuming nothing major wrong, I think I am entering a pretty decent price range....

Only hesitation is that its stock. No mods at all. Going to have to invest a decent amount to add some things.

That is a pretty good deal, I got my 2005 tj , dual tops, weld wheels, 33" tires, 2inch suspension lift and 48000 miles for 15250 and took it to the mechanic and all it needed was a $16 power steering hose, a new battery (been in there since 05) and $20fan resiter clip, I was happy with my price 2000 below bluebook price and very little rust

I think its better that its stock! Means no one has messed it up by doing mods wrong AND unlikely it was ever wheeled hard!

And that is a handsome jeep, I dig black Jeeps!

Nice! A little hesitant buying something with around 90k miles... but I guess that's not too big a deal with Jeeps

For 10,000 you can get one lifted with other mods. I would look around more just see what's out there. I have 2000 tj 4in lift and one in body lift on 35 etc. For 10,000 granted you don't see 35's for 10 out there
