Good Deal on an 06?

Hello all, first post! I've been lurking for a while here while trying to find a Jeep that suits my needs and wanted to see if this was a good deal.
I am heading to a dealer later today to check out an 06 4.0L auto with about 45000 miles for about 16k. Pictures show it to be in pretty good shape, doesn't seem to have any changes to stock, and the carfax comes back clean as a whistle. Any thoughts?

Thanks, and thank you all for the info on your forum, by far the best resource I have found.

Thats a pretty good deal. I am sure you can talk him down a wee little. Look at the floors, tub, under the body for rust, or any signs of being offroaded.

I will definitely be checking for rust, that is my main concern. I'm hoping I can get them down a little but I don't think they are going to budge, I believe this is one of those "this is the price" style dealerships who give the lowest they are willing to go up front.

Seems OK. That being said, it's a TJ and you can probably find basically the same vehicle in an older year for a lot less and it would be exactly as capable. You could spend the difference on upgrades and mods. My $.02.

For 16K i could have gotten a rubicon, i guess it depends on your wants and needs from the jeep. I had a line on a 05 rubi with 50k miles for 15k but the seller keep dicking around. 16k isnt a bad price for a loaded sport or sahara. Thats my 2cents

prices are crazy depending where you are--saw a '05 Rubi low 40k miles asking over $20k--it was stock and very "clean" with a hard top.

It would help us to be able to determine a good deal if we knew sport/sahara/rubi/ se/ x--whatever--also where are you located?

I paid 20k for an 06 LJ Rubicon with 40k on it just a few weeks ago. If it is pretty clean, I would say it is a good deal.

I just traded my '05 Unlimited on a new Rubicon and the dealer gave me $13,500 for it. Naturally, they'll charge more when they resell it. It was clean with dual tops, automatic tranny, and 59,900 miles on the odometer. It's Wisconsin and fall is a good selling season for all SUVs here for those wanting to get set up before the snow falls.

I'm in Rhode Island, and the Jeep is an X.

My issue is I want something fairly low on miles and everything cheaper around here seems to have 80-120k! I've seen plenty for 14-15k that have 75k miles on them, but I can't seem to justify saving 1-2k for an extra 3 years worth of miles...

On the west coast that is right in the ball park. It is hard to price a car/truck/jeep from coast to coast. Price will vary according to cost of living in each area.

I paid 16,995 for my 05 X with 38k miles on it. that was actually on the low end of prices at the time I bought her.

If it's the jeep you really want then its worth it.. But Truth is It's a jeep I wouldn't worry about miles it's only a number. I understand people get scared bc a vehicle has 100k plus but as long as it's taken care of it doesn't matter. Jeeps last forever!

Well I did it...went to check it out, inside was flawless, outside had two minor scuffs (and I do mean minor, wouldn't see them unless looking), turns out it was a 65th anniversary edition too!
Thanks for all your advice, now to the mods....

2006 tj

I would look around a little longer, I paid $12,100 for a 2005 rocky mountain edition with 60,500 miles on it 2 years ago.

I bought my '05 LJ in CT 18 months ago with 28K for 15K. And the prices were going up at the time for everything.

Grats on the Jeep! Looks like you got a decent price.

Mine was 17k three years ago. It's a 2005 sport, dual tops, completely loaded. Had 32k when it was purchased.

everything on the upper east coast is 2-3k more than south and midwest. worst part about it is that they are normally rustier
