Depends what kind of shape its in and how it drives.. from the pic above I see upper door not fitting correctly, and front fender bashed.. Look it over really good. Check fluids.. radiator.. not sure if that year had the exhaust/manifold bolt sheer problem or not...

Around here that would sell for over $4k. More information would be useful. It looks like an SE to me. 2.5L 5speed? Does it have any options? What does carfax say? Ever been wrecked or flooded? What does the other side look like?

The easiest way to tell is open the hood and look at the fan shroud, if it's about a foot long or a little more it's a 2.5 4 cylinder, if it's only a couple inches, if that, it's a 4.0l 6 cyl.

2.5L 4 cylinder

4.0L 6 cylinder

at 15 the chances of you doing significant mods is not likely.. obviously OM JEEP has sec seeded in havering a 4 bad ass cinder.. most on her will agree that the 4.0 is 100x better tho..

not to be a ass but is it your money or your parents and 3 is most they will spend? i ask b/c if its there money why not spend some of your own as well and get something better?

all that said from the pics.. i guess its not a "bad" first vehicle.. its beat to shit.. but most 16 year olds rides are.. you could do a lot better tho never force a purchase this big.. especially when it comes to jeeps (or anything meant for off-roading)..

well 1st off big congrats for saving up that money at such a young age..

2nd agien good job on learning the skills to be able to fix any thing that may go wrong

3rd what happens when something cant be "fixed" can you afford to buy the new part?

like i said in my last post don't force a big purchase.. dont dig a hole you cant get out of.

I would pass. I feel like its just going to eat out of your wallet too much with how beat it looks.

Im sure with a little more time and patience you can find one cosmetically alot better, clean frame, and mechanically sound with a little more miles for around $3000-$4500.
2.5 vs 4.0
Equally good offroad, just the 4 cylinder is a little sluggish on the highway and bigger tires are alot less forgiving without regearing.

You might consider saving up a little more so that you have the ability to widen your search a little more.

Drive it...

if you like it, take it to a local Jeep shop for a pre-buy inspection (if you cannot afford $150 for a pre-buy, you sure as hell cant afford any surprises that it could reveal)....

If you like it...and they say it isnt a POS....then do it.

Its $3k worth of fun.

It aint perfect.

It aint ideal.

It has its limitations.

Everything does.

THe question is whats it worth to YOU.

The ad says its open to negotiation. They ask 3500....you are thinking 3000....offer 2750 and if they bite you have quite a deal.

When you do the prebuy, make sure they pay particular attention to the front right suspension and wear patterns on both front tires..
