He was right in that you should never pay more than you can sell it for instantly.
You didn't make money on this deal, but you certainly didn't pay too much. I would say you done real good!
I agree on what your friend said. I bought and sold cars for years. Unless you have something rare, when you go to sell, it's going to bring about the same as all the other ones, but there's often a larger spread in buying prices. Just depends on how motivated someone is to sell.
I felt like it was a very good deal considering the condition. I was starting to feel like I was looking for a needle in a hay stack.
I found a ton of black and green Saharas, but not too many white ones. Then trying to find an AT, good miles, in excellent condition made it even harder. I'd say 60-70% of the white ones I found were manuals.
I'm happy with the deal! She's going to stay in the garage topless and will venture out on nice days.
