Got a story? Who's had what stolen?

Basically, if you've had something stolen from your jeep and/or a story to go with it let's hear it! I'll start.

Two days ago, i bought two Bow shackles/ D-rings for the front bumper, planned to weld the bolts this week. well this morning one has already been stolen! Since the college kids are back, i'm sure someone thought it'd be a funny crime. Who takes a bow shackle when the entire top is off? I'll be on surveillance tonight.

That is why I moved away from a College Town. Those idiots around A&M were driving me nuts! 1AM they went around ringing doors bells and pounding on doors all the time. Going around destroying peoples property. I despise most college kids....

not the highjack, but trouble with paintball gun is legally, its the same as a real gun....at least the case in Texas it'd be assault with deadly weapon.

If someone is stealing stuff off your Jeep you should be able to do whatever to get them away from it. You can't get away with anything anymore.

^ mmmm. probably no different up here. However, I still have a voice, my own arms and legs. I'm not looking for trouble but a police report wouldn't do anything to help out. they have bigger fish to fry. Just seems like such a dumb and ignorant act.

one night when i was in the movie theater someone stole my light covers off of the lights on the front of my jeep but it turned out to be my best friend's girlfriend who took them...so i ended up getting those back.

someone TRIED to steal my sub out from behind my seat but was unsuccessful because of the shape it was

but i have to say, the worst thing that has happened to my jeep was when it got "antiqued." if you arent sure what that is...its when someone takes baking flour and covers your vehicle in it (i guess u can also do it to someone sleeping). i walked outside and caught the people in the act, but they were gone before i realized what was going on. this was horrible

haha that's terrible. I use to pull that on my friends back in HS all the time! although one time we used honey, ketchup and mustard, then flour! man was that bad. Came out through the car wash though.

I hate that stuff. In my old car someone stole a viper! So one day I am driving in rain and there is no wiper. Lucky I saw before hand or else I would have screwed up the whole windscreen. And gotten a break in with a coat, first aid kit, flash light kinda stuff stolen before but not from this jeep.

My roommate had his doors stolen. I had my CDs and spare tire cover stolen. I have had my locked glove box ripped open multiple times but nothing has been stolen from it.

Try vaseline on windows and lard (or vaseline) in door handles...had that one done to me in highschool....rough part; I was trying to get to work....so I had to get a ride with the parents....since you can't see through vaseline.

I was pissed...Caught some guys egging same car @ a friends house. I knew them...and I hit them...only kinda hard. I hated high school...too many rich kids w/ no respect.

That all happened my Junior year...then early my senior year it got out that I had won some shooting competitions...then I could park my car anywhere without any problems. I even parked my cars topless in the school parking lot. Nobody touched em after that. I don't know if the two things are related, but it seems to be the case.

How funny!

I remember the seniors had a whole parking area to them selves at my high school. The school had student car shows to raise money for year book and other stuff. Well one of the winners had his entire system ripped out his Escalade right in front of the cameras. Guys pulled up behind it, actually unbolted the huge sub mox box that took up the entire back area and threw it into the back of their truck and ripped all the wiring out all through out the vehicle. Then took all his change and his Ipod plus all the wiring for that. We had security guards riding around in go-carts and cameras all over the place and yet no one stopped the guys even with the alarm going off. No telling how long it took for them to do all that and still no one acted. Inside job imo...

That is why I don't spend money on a really nice system for my Jeep and I keep it empty.

Ok, I live in a really nice neighborhood that is relatively crime-free, plus I live on a short cul-de-sac off a dead-end street so my street doesn't see much non-resident traffic. The one night in 5-6 years I left my TJ in the driveway overnight without its top on, I had my Garmin GPSMAP 60CS GPS stolen out of its holder, a very high end first-aid kit, and my beloved 8 year old Jeep hat custom made for a Jeep newsgroup (RAMJ+W) trip to Death Valley years ago. I got more pissed about the hat loss than the other items as they were at least replaceable.

I even had my GPS programmed with my name and phone number plus a reward note for its return on its main opening page. I figure it was one of the neighborhood kids.

Glad it's not like that in MS ... here you vechile is an extension of your home and anybody messing with your vechile is considered trespassing, so if you were to shoot somebody with a gun (paintball or real) then you would be in the right.

Are you 100% sure of that? At least in California, paint ball guns are not classed as "guns" and in fact are legally classed as "markers". That is why they are sold as "paint ball markers". Calif. law says in order to be classified as a "fire arm", it must cause its projectile to be ejected with the use of a gun powder or an explosive like black powder.

So at least in California, a paint ball gun is definitely not classified as a gun or firearm.

Edit: With a little more searching out of simple curiosity I found this... "Texas Penal Code, Title 10, Chapter 46, section 46.01 does not describe a paintball marker. Paintball guns are not classified as "firearms". The ATF specifically says a paintball marker is not to be considered a firearm.

I used to carry Glock 17 in my previous car, can't in Jeep
ANyways I consider myself fit, I don't think anyone can runaway from me if I catch them in act. Probably will knock them out before the cops come in.

No one stole anything from my jeep yet, I got one of those steel tuffy glove compartment, and keep important stuf in it. So far so good

Not a jeep Story, but after a Pirate game one night we tailgated till the parking lots cleared and this young kid (who must have been hammered) jumped on this guys bike in the lot. Luckily the kid got off when he did cause here comes this 250+ pound guy walking up to his bike. Would have been an interesting night if that kid stayed on for a little bit longer!!!

Great stories so far though!

I don't mean its a firearm...however its still called a "deadly weapon" if you were to, for instance, drive down a neighborhood shooting people walking down the road. Not that its a firearm....just a deadly weapon. At least thats what a cop told me back in the day. It may depend on the results of the "incident".

But I can say as a fact they can kill...if everything happens just right (or wrong).
