Got Dirtdobbers? I think I do

I bought my jeep after it had been sitting for the last two years under a carport with the windows off. When I turn on the AC I see small little pieces of what I believe is maybe dirt dobber nests coming out of the middle vents. Anybody got any advice on how to attack cleaning the vents out?
Thx,
Bob

By dirt dobbers do you mean wasps? Do you see any actual wasps coming out?
LOL

That would scare me *#&less.

No insects just the remnants of them having did their nesting thing, I believe that's what it is anyway. I'm not afraid of dirtdobbers, never been stung by one in my life, Wasps now that's another story I got stung three times sunday just opening the gate to go to my barn.

Might just be old mud, from a wheeling adventure..... Anyway the vents pop right out, you might pull them and see if you see anything in there...

They just pop out, there are little knobs on the dash that fit notches on the vent. Roll it up or down as far as you can and pop it out.

Dirt dobbers are black waspy kinda critters, afaik, they don't sting, but just creep the crap outta ya! When you pop the vents out it's nice and open in there to see in, no need to mash your face up in there... I wouldn't want to do that either, but man mine sure is dusty in there.... had to pop one out to remember how to do it...

I'd strip the dash out of the Jeep, and take everything apart.

Or if you're not feeling that I'd yank on the air vent covers and shove a shop vac hose as far in as you can get it.

We have Dirt Dobbers in Tx. nice little bugs. don't sting the hell out of you like wasps, yellow jackets, bees, etc.

They are a bug that people around here say "it won't hurt you, but it will make you hurt yourself trying to get away."

Dirtdobbers are currently building all kinds of mud nests in my hard top, which is hanging from the rafters in my barn. I'll deal with them this fall.

on the right-definately dirt dobber nest-the left looks more like a wasp nest-ay-yi-yi!I live deep in the south-both are common-dirt dobbers don't sting-they are black, and appear similar to wasps.wasps build nests in everything, and red wasps are mean as hell and sting you for fun-beware!I left my lowrider GMC S-15 sitting for about two weeks earlier this month, and when I drove it to work one day and stopped to get fuel, when I opened the fuel door,I noticed they had built a nest in there, rather large!SCARY!BEWARE!

Yeh on the passenger side vent I found another wasp nest and another dirtdobber nest. All cleaned up now, the Wife even washed the vents out good in the sink.

Oh and one thing about the vents when you get ready to replace them, there is a large dowel on one end and a small dowel on the other end that they snap into. So pay attention when you go to snap them back in.

We call those muddobbers. They are pretty blue in the sunlight. They will sting you,but aren't near as aggressive as a wasp.I've got a colony in the bricks in the front of my house.I tell the grandkid not to fool with them, because they sometimes drink beer with grandpa.Yes,I have shared my beer with a couple muddobbers. You have to respect something that small that can make a grown man run like a whippet.
