Got my CB installed :)

I decided to install it above the front roll bar. I had to refab the supplied mount a little, but it fit fine with plenty of room above it for soft top. It's a clean install with no wires showing.

After this pic, I wrapped the mic cable once arount roll bar and length was perfect.

I'm mounting the external speaker on roll cage directly above my left shoulder, so it will be close but also totaly out of the way like the CB.

I'm waiting on the short Firestik antenna and fender mount to arrive to complete it.

Looks great. That cord dangling would drive me nuts though.

Where are you going to mount your antenna?

Also, just to contribute a useful tip, this SWR meter works great for getting it dialed in.

LOL, I'm awaiting that exact same SWR meter from Amazon...

I got the short red Firestik antenna and the Firestik fender mount. I'm using their short fire ring coax....I want antenna on drivers side front fender almost like passenger side radio antenna...The short Firestick is no taller that soft top, so I'll have no problems with snaggin it.....

Jeep Hood Channel Mount Install

This old fart was bigtime into CB's back in the '70s, so I fully understand about antenna tuning and all the crap necessary to make the radio work well

Oh, after that pic, I wrapped the cord just once over rollbar and it took care of the dangling. Mic cable length is now perfect

Well, my brand spanky new WalMart Cobra 19 Ultra III lasted all of 30 seconds before the magic smoke escaped.

Yeah, all was installed properly, but it smoked as soon as powered up. Took all of 1 minute to remove it and toss it in the trash. So much for $39 radios.

So ok, I'll buy a real radio from BellsCB amped, peaked and tuned.

The antenna and mount turned out good

I also have that same radio, just hooked it up yesterday. I've done allot if listening but no smoke. I have a 3ft firestik with fire ring mounted to driver tail light. I still need it tuned but don't really wanna buy a meter. Anyone know of places that does it and how much it costs?
