Got my first Jeep!!

After several months of looking everywhere and doing research here, I've finally got my first Jeep! I found it at a local dealer. 2005 X, Rocky Mountain Edition, 4.0, auto w/ A/C and soft top. 52,600 miles. She's stock with the exception of 31s. I've included a picture. It's just a cell phone pic taken before we even left the dealer. I'll update with more later.

http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/y...p/IMG_0271.jpg

I'm lovin' it!! My wife even loves it. We have to plan who drives it when. LOL...

Now I want to learn everything about it. I'm trying to figure out what gearing it has, etc. It has the piece that pulls out on the turn signal lever to operate auxillary lights but doesn't have any. Would that be an easy install?

Thanks to those who have answered my past questions. This site really helped me learn a lot!

Good looking Jeep !

I think I'm about to buy one, it does not have the fog lights either, I thought that was something basic on them and it does not have the bar that you use as step to get in the car either .. looking in ebay for something nice $$ to start making calculations hehe

CONGRATS ! ENJOY !

If you have the fog light switch on the stalk it should be wired for lights. Look for loose wires up near the front bumper.

Congratulations. Now, if she wants to drive it, you better start looking for another Jeep. My other half steals ours all the time. Told her I was looking at another one, really would like a Ruby, she told me, go ahead. Have fun with it!!!!

I checked underneath the front bumper last night. No wires. I was kind of hoping to find factory wiring with a plug. I found KC replacement lights that are designed to plug into the factory wires. I may have to take another look to see if I missed them somehow.

Funny you mention that. I may have to do that very thing. She's driving it right now! I'm glad she was as excited as I was to get it.

It's actually a Rocky Mountain Edition. I'm assuming (embarrassed to admit I'm not 100% sure ) the painted fenders were part of that package.

Its almost a good looking Jeep. It's TOO clean. If you hurry you can find a dirt road, a mud puddle or even a garden hose and some left over potting soil. Pictures of clean Jeeps are subject to massive amounts of snide comments. Quick go load up the wifey and go get it dirty. Take another picture and remove the clean picture.

Congrats on the Jeep

I believe the wires are actually in the fender well. If will be a wire harness that looks unplugged. Look in the wheel well on the driver side.

Yep. That's where they are. I found the harness and plugs. For some reason the previous owner removed the auxiliary lights and the tow hooks from the front bumper. Now I want them back.

I noticed that no one answered your question . . .

Your VIN contains all information about your TJ. You can use a VIN decoder or get a copy of the build sheet at any Chrysler parts counter for free.

what i first check in all jeeps are axles and gears, this will be a major difference while building ur jeep.

it seems u have stock axles, so you have a D30 in front and D35 or D44 in the back

as for the gears, there is a tag on the 9 o'clock position on the axle, where the bottom left number is ur gear ratio: 3.07,3.73,4.10 ......

this will help finding out:

Thanks!! I'll have to go do that. I'd love to have the build sheet.

Thanks for the tip! I looked last night and found the tag. 3.73 gears in a D44!

Hilarious, but unfortunately true. I just recently bought an 05 TJ and think I've been infected by the add-on/mod bug. My wife sees me looking at all this stuff and is probably already locking me out of our bank account!
