This is the first Wrangler forum I've ever joined and I appreciate any insight I may receive from you all. I'll apologize now for this long post.
First of all, I've owned RedE since she was born at the factory in 10/98 and she's been the best vehicle I've ever owned. Generally speaking she's had very few issues. However:
about 2-3 years ago I noticed that when it rained or snowed I started to get a stutter/shudder effect when I would let out my clutch and I almost had to "pop" it to prevent that effect. As I drove it around it would eventually disappear. This only happened when there was high humidity after the vehicle had been sitting overnight or for a similar amount of time. Up until now this was mostly a nuisance and not something I dealt with often as I only put about 2-3,000 per year on her.
This morning though was quite different. We received a few inches or rain/heavy wet snow and I decided to drive the Jeep. As I attempted to put it in gear I basically hit a wall, almost like I was in between gears. It wouldn't go into any gear period. Tried reverse and it was just grinding on the gears. I switched vehicles but came home at lunch and tried again. It went into gear like it has thousands of times and I drove back to work, albeit with the stutter/shudder effect. I should mention the skies cleared it warmed up and returned to our minimal humidity in Durango. This is totally bizarre to me!! Thanks in advance for your input.
