Grill Bug Shield..?

Hey -- Does anyone know of a bug shield that's available that fits behind or inside the grill? I've searched but can't seem to find one. I like the clean look of the grill slats and I don't want to cover them up. I have a black TJ, so a black bug shield/screen would be perfect. I do have A/C so I don't know if that causes any issues fitting something in behind the grill.

Alternatively, has anyone used the externally mounted bug shields behind their grill? Not sure it's possible, but...

I could tray making my own perhaps. Need to think that one through,

Anyway, thanks in advance for yall's help!

I've installed the Rampage grill mesh on my '97 to stop the giant mutant grasshoppers in the North of our state clogging up my radiator. Easier to clean them off the mesh than pick them out from between the 7 slots.
Doesn't look like it in the pic, but the mesh is black. Also comes in polished finish but I already have enough shiney stuff on the front of my Jeep

What a PITA to install, it slides up from underneath.
The overflow bottle, radiator bash plate (if fitted) and V bracket need to come out.
The shroud, radiator and aircon radiator need to be undone and pushed back to make a gap so the mesh can be pushed up from below.
Also has an odd retention system which initially I didn't have a lot of confidence in but has held up well on many off road trips, so looks like it will be fine - hope so, because if it comes loose, everything needs to come out again.

As a positive, the mesh is very strong and would easily stop rocks, sticks, birds, bats and probably zombies

As an aside, the bolts holding the aircon radiator (on my '97) are a mystery to me. Sort of a cross between a rubber-nutsert/grommet/bolt which I suspect I've ruined by removing because I can't get them back in.
The aircon radiator is now just sandwiched between the normal radiator and the front bodywork with some rubber strips I put in there. I could use normal bolts to re-secure it but I suspect the factory fasteners have certain vibration damping properties which are important. Anyone know what the factory fasteners are called?

the grill mesh is expensive. your going to do that you can make your own for way cheaper. If your looking just to keep rocks and bugs out of the radiator you can just slip a sheet or mesh or screed mesh behind the grill

That looks awesome Wesboy! I just don't know if I have the desire to go through all of that. I might look at my setup tonight and see what I can muster up via good 'ol Lowes. If it can't attach w/ zipties, it's beyond my desire to fix

I lifted the hood after dinner and now I understand the dilemma. There's no easy way to get in behind the grill without removing stuff. Might have to noodle with this some more. Thanks all.

The Jeep is a utility vehicle, so "utilitarian" works fine for me.. Black mesh on the outside,, 50 bucks, and it has lasted 14 years, first on my 97, now on my current 04'.. I repaint it flat black every couple of years..
