Guages quit working

Recently put a new stereo in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler.. Got in it today driving down the road I noticed that none of my guages are working. All the lights work and when I turn on my head lights everything lights up as normal, however none of my guages even move.

I know I didnt cross anything and I dont think anything came un-plugged so what could it be?

dumb question but did you check the instrument panel fuse in the fuse box behind the glove box?

Dirty or loose instrument cluster plug

I had this happen yesterday and when I took apart the dash and the instrament panel the instrument cluster plug had come loose this will also cause an issue if it become dirty sometimes if you clean it and make sure it is connected properly it will work again it looks like this, hope this helps.

Check the IOD fuse in the fuse box under the hood. If it is your IOD fuse your dome lights will not work and your trip meter will reset to 0 miles.

gauges not working

This happened in my 99 TJ, caused by a poor connection in the back of the cluster. I took out the cluster, slipped down both connectors from the metal part they are attached to and left them in front of it. Then replaced the cluster trying to catch both connectors. They make a little pressure against the cluster improving connection. No problem since then, all gauges working OK!!

^^^^ This!! My 97 tj did the same thing. Took it apart, sprayed the instrument panel connecter with compressed air, and it has worked since. You didn't wire anything wrong.

Try this, worked for me. Should take 10-15 mins max using just a Phillips screwdriver and some needlenose pliers....
