Do Raptors still have the frame bending issues?

While that video is completely ridiculous, lots of people were bending the frames from hitting bumps/whoops at speed. The issue was a weak frame in the rear bump stop area. If the axle bottomed out hard enough the frame would bend, and it doesn't take a jump to do that.

A stock raptor is it to "go fast" as a stock Jeep is to off roading. If your an idiot and push the vehicle beyond it's limits you'll break stuff, but if the frame is bending from the axle hitting the bump stops you have a serious design flaw.

That video is why I just love this whole new YouTube generation! Wonder how he likes making the monthly payment on that raptor now?

from what I hear, they have minimal uptravel in the rear, and use a similar microcellular poly jounce bumper to what our Jeeps use (and basically every other car/SUV). my understanding of the issue was Ford designed the frame to bend - to prevent major injuries in off-road situations. Think broken neck from whiplash kinda thing....the drivers of go-fast trophy trucks are strapped in a racing seat w/ 5-pt harness, helmet, and maybe a hans device....not to mention ridiculous amounts of travel in the rear to absorb the landing.

You could stiffen the frame up, but then you're risking significant injury in situations where the frame would normally bend.

Additionally, the aftermarket has tried to "fix" the issue by introducing new shocks and/or spring packs, which have different bumpstop requirements...but of course nobody addresses that, so they only compound the issues.

Here's a good read on the subject: SVT boss goes on record about Ford Raptor frame damage claims [w/video] - Autoblog

Well since we have gone off topic here might as well post my favorite jump vid.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say he bent his frame too

To keep it on topic of Jeeps.

Moral of the story? Keep the extreme jumping to vehicles built for it .
