Happy New Year to me!

So I was driving home from a trip this past weekend, and 2 hours from home I lost 5th gear (and later figured out it was all gears but 4th) So i got to run 65 for 2 hours in 4th gear. When we finally hit the exit, i found out it was all gears but 4th... luckily i was able to use 4lo to start in 4th then shift back to 2wd (I know its terrible, but I needed to get home) and just roll in 4th the whole way. So now I need to fix my tranny, and I was going to use the money that I already don't have for new tires... Happy new year to me...

Any clue what this may be? I am going to climb under it tomorrow and see, it seems I am leaking fluid, and I am going to see if I can see anything obvious since I really don't know what I am looking for.

I can put it in and out of gear, I looked under it today, and there looks like to be a lot of gear oil all over the place, but other than that, I don't know anything about transmissions so yeah.
