Hard top defogger tab

My dog pulled the rear window defogger wire and tab off the glass. From what I have read is that the element is copper and silk screened on to the glass. After that the glass is baked. I have a bare spot under where the tab come off from. The perimeter of the spot has continuity as does all the dark part. There is no continuity under where the tab was. So 2 questions. Has anyone ever soldered a tab back on? Next do I solder to the same spot and hope there is enough area to support the tab or do I move down 1/2 inch and solder to a new spot? OH Yes BARNEY did it because he also shredded th rear seat belt harness too.

I don't know how to do it myself but my local glass shop did mine for $25.

You can get a kit to re-apply tabs and paint up broken spots in the defroster line itself, but I would just have an auto glass company do it, as it doesn't cost much more.

Do not use solder. It won't hhold. (tried it) Some auto parts stores have repair kits. Google Frost Fighter repair kit. It is a conductive epoxy. I've used it and it has held for many years of slamming a heavy hatch (other vehicle)
