Hard Top Noise

Hey everyone, I've had the stock soft top on my '01 Sahara for a while and was thinking of getting a hardtop. I just wanted to know the road noise difference between the stock soft top and the STOCK hardtop for anyone who has one. If it's not all too much quieter I'll just save up and buy a nice new insulated one or something, thanks

There is a HUGE difference in road noise between the soft top and hardtop. I had an 00 Sahara, then went up to a 2003 Rubicon. With the softop on-you can't hear the radio/CD player without cranking it up high...with the hardtop, you hardly hear anything outside the jeep at all. And I've cranked up the volume with the hardtop on and then stood outside-can hardly hear it-so the stock hardtop is insulated fairly well!

My 01 i ran a soft top...and honestly since having this 06 with the hard top...ill never own another soft top. Its either on or off...no more in between. The noise difference is night and day. Not to mention mystery leaks or having to scream at the person next to me to talk to them lol. Course, tire roar had something to do with that.

Thanks a lot, I've been persuaded to just buy a used hardtop in good shape and save the extra money for something else. I'm used to blasting the radio and having to yell and all the flapping by now, but man when i first bought her i thought i was gonna lose my hearing from it haha
