Im in the market for a hard top for my 97 sport. Just getting prepared for winter Is $400 a pretty good price? There are 2 tops within and hours drive that I could get for that price.

That is a really good price. Most used Hardtops will run you atleast $1k come winter season.

Thats why I was thinking about getting it now during the heat wave while nobody else is shopping for them.

atthehop; The main reason I want it is because during the winter the jeep will more then likely be kept out in the driveway. So I figured the weight of the snow would be better handled by the hardtop. The reduced road noise would be nice too.

If there was a $400 hard top near me I would drive for it....I have seen the cheaper, but rarely.

Im just waiting for a reply from one of them. I tried for $350 but neither one would budge from $400. If all goes well I will pick one of them up this weekend.

If you found a hardtop in good condition for $400, you need to jump on it. Don't try to haggle a price, just pay the $400 and be happy that you found such a good deal. I just traded my 2005 hardtop for a 1 year old soft top in perfect condition and $800.

If you've got room to store them, definitely buy both. Hang on to the 2nd one all summer and then when late fall rolls around, you can sell it for enough profit to offset the cost of the one sitting on your Jeep, effectively getting you a FREE hardtop!!

I picked it up today. It took about 2 hours to get there. But it was a nice drive through Gettysburg, especially since it is bike week over there. Now should I paint it black or leave it alone?

You could paint it, but it looks fine the way it is. What color is your interior? Great score, man. You did well.
