Hard Top Quick connects

... Saw them on line and seemed like a good idea. I don't relish the thought of dealing with the Torx bolts when the unfortunate day comes where the hard to has to go back on ... any feedback?

thanx

There's only 6 torx bolts holding the hard top on. I just use a ratchet with an extension and swivel.

I only have 2 original Torx bolts, the rest were replaced with bolt/nut/washer combinations, and it was tough to remove

I'm in the same boat....2 original torx and 4 mix/match sets of nut/bolts. But, is your hard top really that big of a pain to install? I can have mine bolted down in about 10-15 minutes. Mine is hanging from the rafters in my barn so I just back under it, lower the cinch straps, and intall the bolts. Dishes done.
I guess I have more patience than others....I'll remove my hard top on a nice fall day, and put it back on at the end of the if I know the weather is going to turn bad the next. It doesn't bother me to remove/install all in the same day.

Admittedly I was a NewB when I removed it the first time, but I don't have a garage so I store it at a friends place ... it's a once off once on per year thing

I usually remove/install all in the same day, typically weekends. During the week the doors come on/off. I don't have a harness to take the hardtop with. Just got some good neighbors (one JK, one TJ, one YJ, and one noisey [he keeps saying he is gonna get a JK everyday])

I know it's difficult to remove a hardop if you're a thief. However, I would rather make it harder by leaving the torx screws on in lieu of quick remove twist bolts. It seams like it would take half the time to unscrew them and drag the top off.

Bestop sells quick releases for soft tops - and you should of course go buy them. Buy a dozen!

But personally, when I remove/replace my hardtop, those bolts are one of the least painful parts. Lifting it, storing it, replacing the foam seal tape (you do this right?), getting it aligned properly, -- all of that is way more painful than ratcheting out a few bolts.

But when it comes to your soft top, you absolutely MUST get the quick release knobs. Because that's four bolts, and it's really really painful.

(actually, I think the idea for the soft top quick releases is being able to do it anywhere without tools at all, which I guess would be handy. I have tools.).

Some one who decides to break in now decides "Oh we can steal the top" Aw come on. Yea walking down the street with that will be easy or maybe they planned for that and have a truck with them.
