Hard Top Seal

I picked up my '04 TJ in February of this year. It was bone dry through the end of winter, spring, and most of summer. I took the top off for the first time (in a long time, based on how stuck the seal was) around mid July, and it started leaking shortly after. The past few rain storms have left an inch or two of water in the passenger foot well. I THINK i have the leak tracked back to a section on the drivers side rear, with it running across the "trunk" and behind the passenger seat.

The seal LOOKS OK there, but i'm guessing it's thin or cracked somewhere. Can i just cut out the rear corner and stick some weather stripping in there, or is the material something special?

I searched for something similar and I found this thread which answers that very question.

Driving a Jeep is ordering coffee at the drive through and asking "Leave some room at the top. For the sloshing."
Okay, we’re a little crazy to have a Jeep for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius -- P.J. O'Rourke
