Cool hard top to soft top

What do I need to replace my hard top with a soft top on my 2004 wrangler sport. I see a lot of replacement soft tops for sale. I'm not sure if all the hardware comes with the replacement tops. I'm in maine, so this winter the hard top will go back on again. Thanks for the help.

If you get an OE top, it should have the frame and head rail.

You'll want to see if it comes with the door surrounds (2), rear quarter windows (2), rear window (1) and the tailgate bar.

The non-OE ones will vary somewhat. You'll want to ensure with sellers what the top includes and what material it's made from. 2004 + OE tops went to sailcloth which is a much better/quieter top than the pre 2004 tops.

You also have the option of a frameless top. Trektop by Bestop or Fastback by Rampage. You will still need hardware, but not as much. Some come with the door surrounds, you will need a header and a rear window bar. Google Jeep tops and you will find a zillion options. Bestop makes the OEM tops and the quality is A+, but lots of aftermarket tops are good quality as well, and have different features from the factory tops. I have a 4 ply sailcloth top that is nearly 10 yrs old, and it's still in pretty good shape.... About as quiet as you can expect from a convertible that is as large as a Jeep top.

These pics show all the parts you need. When buying a used top, the parts commonly left out are the door surrounds (I & J), the rollbar brackets (E & F), and the tailgate mounts (G & H).
This pdf file shows the installation instructions for the OEM top if you buy it from a dealer's parts department. http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82207728.pdf
