Hardtop Hardware

My nephew was playing with matches in the shed where I had my hardtop stored. POOF! No more hardtop. 1998 Wrangler Sport. The first thing I did when I bought this was to install a soft top for summer. Minnesota is cold in the winter. Here's my problem. There were two pieces that screwed down on top of the roll bar over the door when putting the hard top on. It came this way to me. I think it they were to make a tight fit when the hardtop was on but I'm new to all this. I can't find these parts listed anywhere and when I talked to Bulldawgmfg the guy said he had never heard of such a thing. I do have soft uppers on my doors. Can anyone help me?

Hard Top had nothing of the sort. Factory Soft Top had Door Surrounds that attached to the Roll Cage above the doors for a Seal and to attach the Soft Tops side windows to. ONLY ADDITIONAL HARDWARE for Hard Top is six Tub Mounting Bolts.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure what these were. If a new hardtop will fit the doors without them, so much for the better. The old top did lock down in the from with those two clamps but the back was bolted down with 4 bolts. Maybe the previous owner used a top that wasn't made for a TJ? Whatever the case, the search continues for a replacement. In the meantime it's getting pretty cold in Minnesota!

Did they look like this? If so, those are the door surrounds mentioned above. They should not be installed when putting on the hard top.

how do those come off? Because I was told they come off when putting a hard top on. I got my Tj in august and was given a hardtop and I wanted to put it on for the winter.

There are two hand screws on top that unscrew and move up. when these are loose your surrounds should come off and fold in half.

BullDawg MFG says my half soft doors wont work with a hardtop and I need to buy a set of their doors. Morris 4X4 center says the same thing. I just got an email from Quadratec telling me that I have to buy a set of solid doors to fit a hardtop and that they have heard of people using soft upper doors but "it hasn't been confirmed yet" I had attached a picture of my TJ sitting in front of the house with the hardtop on it and the half soft upper doors. Why am I having so much trouble with this? Are they just forcing me to buy doors or was the hardtop I had a fluke of some sort?

That sounds like a fine job for your nephew's parents.
Wish them luck at finding you a comparable hard top to replace the one their son melted.
I'm sure you lost more than the hard top in that shed. Let them off the hook easy by only requesting the top be replaced.
