Lightbulb Hardtop Mods

Alright guys, so everyone knows its almost summer and time to take the top off. Say you're running out of easy mods as well.. You look over and see your hardtop sitting off and you brainstorm what you could do to it (exactly what I'm doing right now haha).

Long story short I'm looking for things to do and how to mod it.

I'm definitely plasti-dipping the inside black for easier cleaning when I get mud on the inside as well as less glare on sunny days from the stock white interior.

I'm also thinking storage.. Maybe a mesh of some sort attached to the top or side compartments. Lighting is another thing I figured on, the old light is to dim when I really need it. I may either switch to a brighter bulb or add some extra lights somehow to work with the one in the back with some kind of over ride switch to turn it on or off when I really need it.

Tell me what you think and add things you think would be cool
As always if you've done it post pictures*

I painted the inside flat black.

I installed a Ford Explorer roof rack on top.

Finally someone replied haha. I plan on plasti-dipping my inside so its removable and takes away that rough texture that holds on dirt. Is that a cb speaker on the roll cage? and you had to drill into your hardtop for that roof rack I'm guessing? looks good

The external speaker for my cb is zip toes to the roll bar.

Had to drill eight holes in the hard top.

Nope. Thanks anyways.
Even though I have not used it in the last couple years, it is great to have when we get lots of snow. I have used it every winter, except the last two. Nothing but a dusting.

I tell everybody it's Al Gore's fault.

The inside oh hardtops are white so the light better reflects inside and makes your dome light work more efficiently.

Have you seen the sunroof mod? Add a little pop up sun roof.

Good theory but it also reflect light in my eyes on sunny days. I was also considering a brighter dome light or more lights so technically they'd compensate.

If you do plastidip your hardtop, i promise you the first time it gets muddy inside, it will never been clean again. Mud sticks to it like glue since its a rubberized undercoating. I plastidip'd my entire jeep and i dont even wash the body anymore after it gets muddy. Ill powerwash the underbody and let the rain take care of the rest. I would stick paint or maybe even rattle can bedliner, imo.

With all do respect, bedliner is even worse when It comes to mud. I'll test it out and see what I think.

have you looked into using led light inside, thats my plan. and im going to paint my top on the inside as well. but just regular spray paint. i have used the spray bed liner and that is a nightmare to get clean. i used it on my fender flares on my other truck. looked great but was areal PITA, only thing that really worked was mother's back to black

Had nothing but bad luck with plasti-dip. I recommend you not use that crap.

I plan on LED's inside too somehow, and I may just paint it black but I like that plasti-dip is removable.

I've had a lot of good reviews on it and as long as it isn't in a high traffic area like grab handles or door handles it should hold up fine.
