Hardtop selling

Why is it so hard to sell a hardtop. Have it listed at $750 and closest competition is at $1000

Its a piece of plastic lol. idk...economy, bills, unemployment is high so people don't have money to spend on a hard top. Years vary so maybe no one wants ur year because no one needs it cuz they don't have that jeep. Can't ship it, maybe you smell weird to people....Its all a bunch of guesses lol idk what ur hoping to get out of this thread haha good luck tho

You don't see hard tops in my area for less than a thousand, and those usually have issues. The one's I see on CL are 1300-1500.

Well that's your problem right there...craigslist is full of low balling cheap asses looking for a steal. Selling on one of the many jeep forums would be your best bet.

I just sold mine today after posting on craigslist for a week. Had to deal with some of those low ballers looking for a cheap sale. I sold mine for $950 and it was in great shape. Just depends on your location and with spring around the corner its gonna be a little harder to sale but good luck!

I sold mine for $700 in FL in less than a week. I'd just stick to it and someone will pick it up.

Also, I have an ex gf that lived in Dahlonega lol.

In the process of selling my tan/spice tj top here in Kentucky. $650 would be my bottom dollar, close to your 675. No rush for me as I'm going to buy a the trektop or rampage regardless but have nowhere to store the hard top in the spring and summer. If it doesn't sell ill figure something out for storage, bed line it, and use it next winter. With that being said I'd also like to sell it so I don't have to worry about all that lol. I've only had mine up for a few days. The wait begins.

My guess is the color. If you haven't done so yet, expand your region. If someone wants it bad enough they'll drive for it. Hell, I sold mine in the middle of summer. Folks drove down from Savannah to get it. Had lots of 600 offers, but they had to fish on. I'd throw it on the forums as well, but I never had much luck selling anything on them. Just a lot of 'wish you were closers'. It'll sell eventually, they always do.

Someone's looking to buy my hardtop for $650 but wants me to drive an hour to meet him.

Is that worth it or would I be losing to much money on the hardtop

No way! They are in control of the negotiations at that point. You need to set a firm price up front with maybe a Paypal deposit for fuel to be kept only if they change their mind.
If you drive an hour they will lowball you and you will be out 2 hours of time and fuel.

Very true! So I think I need to just hold off until someone is willing to drive to me. Cuz me driving that far would make it easier for me to get low balled.

If you are meeting a certain person in Braselton, he is a stand up guy. you can pm me if you want to make sure we are talking about the same guy. if you came to an agreement over the phone or email, he will abide by it ( if of course we are talking about the same person!)

I do hope you sell your top/ am wishing you luck.....but IMO (and this is in an effort top help answer your question) as good as the new softops are and the fact that TJs have such good heaters..I think the demand for HT is going down somewhat..especially when part of the attraction of a Jeep is being able to go topless..

Again Good Luck!!!
