hardtop to softtop conversion

post this in YJ by accident. reposting here.

My roommate has both hard top and soft top.
I have the hard top.
I want to borrow his soft top for this summer, yet i do not have the mounting hardware to do so.

It looks like I need some parts that connect to the roll bar. The bars that support the softtop connect to this bracket or part that is attached to the roll bar. Can anyone shed some light on this or point me to a place that might sell a kit.

I don't want to remove the items from my roommate's jeep.

I have even considered trading the hardtop for a softtop, but i am not quite there just yet.

you will need door sorrounds, and attachments from the roll bar.. might as well borrow the roll bar attatchment from your roomie.. since you are borrowung the top (4 Bolts; 2 on each side). O and hardware in the rear tailgate also. one on each side.

jeepsrus.com you can find parts there.. but I would suggest not trading yor hard top.. because it is rare and costs 3 times more than a soft top.. I bought a complete barely used soft top from a 06 rubi for 400 dollars. I have the soft top on right now, but I do miss the hard top.. I dont know why.. but I will wait till fall to put it back on..

I feel you on gas prices.. I just sold my bike and bought a civic for daily driving.. But I know I will eventually sell the civic and get a new bike a year from now.

sucks to know you can uy tons of mods every month instead of paying for gas.

Hey, I checked that site and it doesn't look like they offer the parts anymore. Does anyone know where else I might be able to find the hardware to convert my hardtop into a soft top? I have a 1989 Wrangler Sahara, if it matters.

I think I may have found something, but I'm not sure because the sites offering the parts don't say whether it's for a Jeep with no existing soft top hardware or for one with... Basically I don't want to spend $700 and find out it's for a Jeep already with a soft top.

Also, if anyone has any advice on the process, that'd be cool too. Thanks...

*EDIT*

It looks like this has it's own hardware, that would be fully different from the OEM. So I wouldn't even need to "convert", I would just install the hardware that came with this... Or am I wrong? God, I'm so confused.

That's for the TJ (97 & up) and it doesn't look like they have it for the YJ. Thanks for trying though. =)
