It won't do anything for our jeeps. Only gains are very small and are at redline RPM's and Wide open throttle. Better to spend the money on something else. Same goes for cold air intakes

You might want a slightly higher lift with 35's. Maybe add at 1.25" body lift?

x2. Take the money you were gonna spend on a chip and buy a 1.25" bl and 1" mml. It'll be about the same as the price of a chip.

I've done some research on this topic. The only product I would suggest would be the Edge Products Trail Jammer Kit; it comes with a CAI, larger throttle body, and chip for $350. I don't have one myself, but I plan to get one because the majority of the people who get it claim a noticeable increase in power and a slight increase in MPG.

The only other feasible option I came across is a Jet chip, but people who purchased it seemed more split up about it than the Trail Jammer. Even the ones who noticed any differences in MPG and power said they were only minor differences. And the chip only is $200. It is probable that the Jet chip works better when you put install other mods, but I'd say just spend the extra $150 for a greater guarantee of a larger increase in efficiency. Also the chip that comes with the Trail Jammer is designed to work in conjunction with the provided intake and throttle body.

Anyway thats my 2 cents. How long is your deployment? I may have the Trail Jammer Kit by the end of summer if you are still thinking about getting one yourself.

Chips are great if you are looking for a tiny bit of extra performance when the engine is at or near redline RPMs & the throttle is wide-open. Perfect for those who run their Jeeps through the quarter-mile dragstrips.

For the rest of us? In my personal experience having installed a chip in an older Jeep of mine (& eventually removed) was that it produced no noticeable effects offroad, on the highway, or around town. I personally consider them a 100% waste of $$$.
