Has anyone Bought the Edge Trail Jammer Kit?

This kit has the TB, air intake and elec module.

Is it worth the money? Does it really make that much difference for $850?

theres a show on spike tv called trucks and these people put this on a jeep wrangler and they said it made a 2-4 mpg increase and that power had definitely increased...(didn't say how much)...should be at least a few hp

I just saw it the other day, that is what got me wanting it.

I was just curious if someone with limited funds (unlike a TV program) thought it was worth it.

The surprising spec was the 0-60 mph time would decrease by 2 seconds, that sounds pretty amazing.

This is one of the few engine mods that actually can make a difference since it adds a new fuel managment system. Now you say does it make an 850 dollar gain? That I don't think it does. About the only thing for a jeep that you are going to find to give you that much power increase is a turbo charger.

huh???? how does it decrease 0-60 time by 2 seconds??? i thought it was supposed to help power!!! i don't get it...unless it just helps high end power and decreases low end power :/ ...i dont know

power is power, and decreasing 0-60 time by 2 seconds is huge

getting a better 0-60 time would take more hp and torque, usually a lot of it. so it should help thru the whole power range too.

Yup - the 4.0 has both super and turbocharger kits readily available. The 2.5L has superchargers readily available, and 2.5L turbo kits for dodge dakotas can be made to work on them. Both engines have a pretty good selection of aftermarket mopar performance parts available - everything from cams to pistons.

I think you are reading it wrong!

Decreases 0-60 time, which is a good thing and takes a power increase.

Example: old time 0-60 10 seconds, after mod 8 seconds, so it is faster, a lot faster

hahaha!! lol SORRY i was reading it wrong jus like u said...it must have been late at night!!! no wonder i was so confused...now i get it...i dont know if it was late or what but i guess i thought ya meant that it got worse...but yeah your right...decreasing 0-60 by 2 seconds is alot...2 seconds is a good bit in 0-60...i was so confused...i thought it hurt power and i didn't get it and i didn't understand how it could hurt lol...yeah it definitely HELPS power...thanks for correction

That was my point exactly 2 seconds is a HUGE improvement, even for an bus. Sounds too good to be true, especially when they state it to only be around 20 hp.

Okay, I know everyone is different, but a 0-60 time, what in the world are you people thinking. If you are worried about how fast your JEEP goes, maybe you should have bought a mustang. I mean come on people, the wrangler is the LEAST aerodynamic auto in the known universe! Why would anyone care what it's 0-60 time is. I dunno why I try to figure some of you people out.

People like you are why I hate forum boards. You have to be a smartass about a simple statement of facts, while most of the discussion was a misunderstanding. I don't need a fast Jeep or a mustang. I do have a 12 second car, a highly modified 2002 Pontiac Firehawk #783 of 1501 produced.

The whole point of the 0-60 time was that is was a HUGE improvement so it must mean that it does a good job of increasing HP and TQ. SIMPLE AS THAT. Now if we were talking about taking them to the track then your reply would be justified, otherwise it was just being a smartass! If you can't figure some people out it is because you don't get what people are talking about in the first place.

First of all, I knew you weren't racing jeeps, I just thought it was funny that you cared what the 0-60 time was. Second, I found it funny that some stupid company BOASTS about improving a jeeps 0-60 time anyways. I just had a good laugh and thought that I would point out how funny the discussion sounded to me. Sorry if I pissed you off, but all of your talk of 0-60 just made me laugh till it hurt. Take a joke dude.

There's no 'funny business' about 0-60 times... well, unless you're talking funny cars of course. So what a manufacturer tries to boast their 0-60 improvement - it still signifies, A, a performance improvement (a good one at that, IF the claim is actually true), and B, a performance improvement in which will affect most people (on-ramp performance, merging, etc.) - horsepower is without a doubt the preffered measurement, however time improvement is something that everyone can understand and figure out just how much it will improve the feel of the vehicle (something you can't do with just HP without lots of experience in power mods of all sorts on the platform in applies to).

While Jeeps make good torque; their highway acceleration is not all that great - ESPECIALLY with the 2.5L. With a bit of help in all areas from suspension, to brakes, to tires, to powertrain - Jeeps can make for some VERY nice handling rigs not only off-road, but perform superbly on the road.... other than the noise. Some people like having it as close to that point as they can afford. Powertrain (and high end suspension) modification allow you to get all the utility of a utility vehicle; something that normally tugs around town definitely feeling like a barebones truck, to something that has all the capability of a truck, and the feel and ease of drive of a civilized SUV or car. At least that's my stance - one coming from someone who's Jeep has no fenders, no air coniditioning (or even a fan) in Arizona, no radio, no nothing that's not involved in getting my TJ from point A to point B; about as 'trucked out' as they come (oh and it's a DD too).

You can hear the difference. You can feel the difference but you won't gain 2 seconds. That's track proven. Of course that was a 4.0 with 5.38s to 40 MT/Rs.

I appreciate the reply.

My point was exactly like JeepCrawler98 said, you can't always feel a few horses but 2 seconds we can all tell the major improvement. I also agree that why does the company even measure that spec. I would never even think about timing my Jeep off the line. I do a lot of mods on my Firehawk and a 2 second increase on that car would cost well over 10 grand. So yes it is an impressive spec to me but I could care less how fast it is, especially when I want to put 4.88's in it. When I get the gears in the Jeep I bet my car's 1/4 mile time will be close to my Jeep's 0-60 time. 12 sec 0-60 Jeep and a 12 second 1/4 mile daily driver, the tortoise and the hare. I simply meant it must work well to have those numbers.

NUFF SED!!!

Now, to my original question: does anyone have it and do they think is worth $850?

No! It isn't worth 850. However, I have another buddy that just picked up the whole kit for under 500. He has driven 14 hours plus one way and averaged 18+ MPG in this jeep...




and I think that is worth the investment

The drag race was a joke amongst friends. We were talking times one day and decided to find out. The white jeep went 17.6xx and my buddies jeep on 35s went 16.5xx. Both jeeps are freaking tanks. The white jeep weighs over 5000lbs verified.

Not sure. I'm not even sure he bought it new but I do remember him getting it under 500 shipped.




EDIT: Bad info. I called him and he said he sent it back cause the guy promised it came with the intake. Which it didn't.

Yes. We all run Toyos except me. The 37s are a rockin tire. I wish they would make a 40+ in a C range and I would run it! You won't regret anything besides the weight of the tire.

One more question:

How do you guys with tires over 35 mount the spare?, most all tire carriers state they carry up to a 35 or 36.

And do I dare try it on the stock tailgate with a bracket for clearance?
