Hey guys! I want to upgrade my head lights before winter. My drive to and from work is 30 miles of 2 lane country snow covered dark roads all winter. Oh, and I forgot to mention deer covered. So I'm wanting bright head lights. Not really interested in a cheap eBay hid kit. I'd rather have a quality bright bulb. What do you guys have and like? Thanks!

Used these in 24 hour Alaska darkness. Normal standards. Illegal brights. So off road only but normal setting is normal. Bothers no one. Brights are like off road lights. See the moose before you hit them. HELLA HLA-H83140141 H4 12V 100/55W Halogen Bulb Off Road Use by HELLA http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000COBLJI/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_YrV2tb01BZ98Q

I use them in kc housings. I love them. They are coated lexan that don't scratch or chip. But these bulbs will work in what ever h4 housings you like.

Just remember when you up the wattage, you also up the amps. Stock wiring is designed for stock lamps. The wires don't like having to carry a double load.

I have 500+ watts on the front of ours. 100 watt bulbs in the fogs, 100 watt bulbs in the hinge mount lamps, and 55/65 on the headlights. The high beams are modded to also turn on the low beams at the same time. The stock wiring is only used to turn on the relays for the lamps now.

Macintux, thanks for the link--a lot of helpful info there.

That's the part I don't know how to do--upgrade the wiring. There was another thread recently regarding wiring harness building that is way over my head. All I know about electricity is AC, DC, and it's invisible, LOL. Upgraded harnesses apparently run around $100, so If I install Hella E codes as planned will be okay with the stock bulbs but if I want to run higher output would need to also purchase the wiring upgrade? Trucklites sound great, but too much $ for me, and not sure if the extra cost really represents that much improvement over Hella, KC, etc.

there's a headlight mod that involves adding relays to the circuit, and greatly improves brightness and quality. with a quick google search you can find the write up.
