Headers? I wouldn't think so. The main factors in how the exhaust sounds is the cat and the muffler along with diameter of the piping.

It should and a power difference
have you ever listened to an old hot rod.
it sounds good and deep but if you hear the same car with headers you hear more tone and feel more power.
I want some headers. After that I'll want a cam

A friend just put headers on his jeep with a flow master and it has a nice deep tone and he has the stock cat on it

i think it would give it a slightly deeper sound. nothin worth payin big bucks for though unless you have a cracked manifold.

if your really after sound though then get a new muffler

I would think that one would be concerned about performance and not sound.

if you're really after sound though then sell your jeep

If you look at the factory header, it is insulated. Now look at your Edelbrock header. It is not insulated. There is a gain in hp, and sound. That is the selling point of Edelbrock. It is a great header, with less resistance to the flow of your exhaust.

Warning: you may want to wear earplugs, especially if you add on flowmaster mufflers...........big grin inserted here.

That sound is great...but I am going to be the old fogey here. If your jeep is a DD, and you do any longer distance trips, that "awesome throaty sound", can really get on your nerves about 2 hours down the road.

Banks Header

Did you get that header on your jeep yet? Was wondering what you thought. I was considering Banks header and cat-back.

a while back there was a bunch of posts here of owners with the banks header and they had problems with it cracking. simple scout runs the cat back though.

Different headers can make different sounds but it also depends on your cat and muffler. I don't know about Jeeps but generally long tube will help produce a deep tone but you have to use a muffler with chambers. MAC, IMO, has the best sounding mufflers.

headers should also increase gas mileage, now i said should, not they will. so that whole dd factor is out for me. personally i do not mind the sound, especially if my tank stays fuller longer! lol. i plan on getting headers myself, both for sound and power, the right ones will do both. their main focus though is power
