Headlight converstion or not?

1st of all i'm not sure if this belongs in this department or not.
2nd i am trying to decide if i should upgrade my headlights or not. I would like to get an idea of how many of you still use the standard halogen sealed beam headlight, and how many of you upgraded to an H4 or similar converstion.
also please post your comments... any and all will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I changed mine shortly after I bought it and recently upgraded the h4s to 100w off road bulbs. WhAt a difference living in a town without streetlights.

Well I never really thought about upgrading untill i installed some Delta 55w foglights. At night when i have both of them on, i noticed that the foglights are so much brighter and whiter then the jeep headlights. However i also noticed that the previous owner put in regular headlights and not halogens. I was thinkin of just putting in Halogen sealed beams to see if that makes much of a difference from standard incandecent headlights.

Since you asked, I still use stock headlights. It's very annoying when I meet a vehicle on the road at night and their nuclear powered mega beam headlights blind me and catch my soft top on fire. I guess they may not have them aimed correctly but it's annoying just the same. I do keep a Mag-Lite strapped to my roll bar just in case I need to see something questionable on a dark trail. Over the years I've become burned out on replacing good stock parts with aftermarket gear unless it's actually needed. I'm probably in the minority on this forum, but you asked.

Upgrading my headlights is the best modification I've ever done. I'd highly recommend everyone driving a TJ to upgrade.

Take a look at the IPF's.

I know it's an expense route... but Ive been thinking about converting to the H4 style lights.... but then doing and HID conversion from there.... Companies make universal HID conversion kits for H4 style lights, so esentialy you just need the H4 lens/housing, then buy the HID kit... just my 2 cents

Well i decided to give the Sylvania Silverstar H6024ST a try. Mainly because i can get them locally and i don't have to order them in. When i changed out the headlights i put one silverstar in and turned on the headlights to see if i could see a differance. And yes... The old headlight was dim and very yellow colored, the Silverstar was alot brighter and whiter. I think i will like these alot. I put in the pole as standard because its still a sealed beam and a halogen headlight.

But i still want to see what eveyone uses so Please post in the poll.
thanks

Does anyone know if I put the IPF 920H round headlamps on my TJ, do I need to change the light harness also, or do they work good (and safely) with the stock harness?

Don't need the harness. Never had any issue with it the last 3 years. Know of several people with the IPF's for well over 5 years and no issues.

IPF's or Delta has my vote.

Do you have the same headlight mounts in tthe US than we have her ein Europe?
Then 40-50$ cheap H4 clear glass headlights from Volkswagen Golf MK1 would fit.

I have pretty good night vision.

That said, most of the problems with "stock" TJ lights is that folks lift their jeeps and don't adjust their headlights.

My stockers work pretty good. I have PIAA fog/brights for when I need the extra light...

Dude, if you upgrade your headlights it's just going to blind everyone. Just leave them alone. If you can't see, get some auxilary lights and mount them on the bumper or something. You can crank them up when you're somewhere really dark.

Not true if done properly and aimed properly. The Ancient technology in the Jeeps headlights has much room for improvement without causing anyone else any undue harm.

HID's in a reflector style setup is not "proper" in my opinion.

I dont think the headlight upgrade will be blinding...itll just be better overall projection of light. Not exceedingly bright.

And plus all these bmw's and caddy's and Mercedes and so on, they all have these damn blinding HID lights that are ridiculous...I want some payback..
