Exclamation headlight issues.

I went to pull the headlight knob out today and it wouldn't budge. I yanked it a bit harder and the entire knob came out and now my headlights wont turn on....
The knob can operate the interior lights when I put it back into place but It isn't turning on my headlights.

Does anyone know where I can get a decent replacement for the headlight switch assembly or a write up on how to fix this issue? before you crucify me for not using the search option I totally searched but I didn't find conclusive results.
Please help me!

Napa, O'Reillys, Carquest, Dealership. Some of ur aftermarket places might even offer a lifetime warranty on their premium lines. That's what I would go with. After all, it's just a headlight switch. Not exactly like ur buying a super critical, takes 9 hours to replace, flux capacitor kinda part... it's just a switch that will take up about a 1/2 hour of ur time. I'm sure whatever u buy from wherever will work just fine. As for why it broke, probably due to age more than anything.

I needed one quick so I went to a junk yard and pulled one from a late 80's Cherokee , it was the same as my 00 tj

Your Pick indicates that the "C" clip came off, (fits in the grove at end of shaft).
Remove the switch, insert the shaft all the way, (it will go all the way through
the switch, and protrude out the back) replace the clip with a new one,
reinstall the switch, and all should be good.
Clips can be purchased at the Auto Supply Store HELP SECTION. Take the Shaft
with you to size the clip needed, or buy the assortment package. Cost under $5.
