Heater/AC noise found.

So my Jeep has AC but it does not blow cold. I'm fine with that, but the compressor cycles on and off (making an annoying noise) when the selector switch is in any position other than off. Should it do that? Anybody have this problem or know why it cycles on and off. Is it a switch or compressor problem? I disconnected the plug to the ac compressor in the mean time. Sorry no pics.

The compressor is cycling on and off probably because there is too little freon in the system. It will run the compressor in A/C mode and defrost mode. It should not do it with just the floor or vent mode. Give it a charge and it may be nice to have in the heat.

Or just unplug the wires at the compressor.

I agree. Had the same problem about a month ago. Just pick up a recharge kit at your local auto parts store. I spent about $25, charged the AC in about 15 minutes and the cycling stopped immediately. Nice fix and nice cold air.

Well, you may just be a little low on freon... Check it first

Bought a recharge kit for 30 bucks and problem solved. The only side effect is now I have cold AC.
