Heater Blower Switch- No Power!!!???!!!

ok, so the 99 TJ Sahara (4.0 6cyl. 5spd manual, A/C equiped) Jeep i bought this summer hasn't had the blower or climate controls working since i got it. finnaly getting cold and i decided to try and fix it.

I've read through the diff threads on here already and run through the normal issues and corrected them. as i'll list below, but the main problem i'm finding is that i do not get power to the blower speed switch from the relay thats under the dash.

i have check through:
-replaced actually blower speed select switch( it was bad)
- no noticable burn/melting on any harnesses in the dash controls.
-swapt out and tried in a friends working 98 TJ, both the relay and resistor (or whatever its called with the coil spring resistors to control fan speed)
-pulled the blower motor, it works when 12V is hooked straight to it
- now after taking the volt meter through out the system points i've found power going from:
fuse panel-relay, comes out 2 different points of the relay, BUT i noticed that on my relay harness it does not have the middle 5th wire like on my friends 98 TJ.

is this just a wiring difference between years when they switched control panels/parts and whatnot???

from there-i do not get any power to the switch in the dash to even send to the blower.

anyone with a 99 or same style wiring that can check if there is 4 or 5 wires that are in their relay harness.

i didn't see anything that looked like the wire burned up/ melted away on the harness.

but who knows what the previous owner did to it ?

I have the same issue:
replaced the climate control panel
Replaced resistor
Hooked up blower motor direct (works Fine)

But I have no power to the fan control after checking with circuit tester.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? I wired direct to battery to at least have "High" blower.

HELP

Gotta ask, just in case, did you check BOTH fuses? One in the under hood power distribution center and one in the mini box. Takes both for the blower controls.

Anyhow, looking at the wiring diagram, your relay on a 99 is a 4 terminal.
Power from both fuses to two of the terminals, a ground to another and the power feed out to the blower motor from the forth.

Similar to a standard 4 terminal Bosch relay. Power in to run the blower, power for the trigger, a ground, and power out to the blower.

From the looks of it the relay is hot all the time with the ignition on. Again to the motor, not the switch.

The resistor (springs) control the ground to the motor via the switch to control speeds. The switch just makes the connection to the various resistance springs to a direct ground.

The switch gets it's ground connection from the mode switch.

Only place I spotted a power lead going to the control head was for illumination and to work the blend door.

Hopefully this link works, you'll want page 8w-42-3 for the blower motor/controls schematics. Give it a bit, it takes a little time as it's loading all the wiring diagrams.
