Question heater stuck on defrost and floor

my heater works great just it is stuck on floor and defrost. air doesnt come out the vents when i put it on that setting. is this a problem with my controls or the heater core?

Could be a vac leak, in the engine compartment. Happened to me, it was stuck on the floor, new hose fixed it right up.

Ill bet it is a vac leak i had the same problem on my 97 tj

vac leak?

a vac leak in the engine compartment. to fix this i would need a new vac hose? not very familiar with heating system.

i know i had that problem on a 90 XJ and it was vaccuum related. had two pin holes in the hose.

Isn't there a flap operated by a cable that directs the air? Couldn't it be stuck?

Mine did the same thing for a while. But easily fixed if you know where to look. Crawl under the drivers side dash under the steering wheel up towards where you radio unit is. you will see a flapper with a cable attatched to it. Or i should say , should be attatched to it. Mine came loose right there and while the vacuum was working fine, it wasnt moving the flapper. Seems to be a crappy way for it to connect, so i zip tied it so it wont ever come off again.

still no worko

thanks for everybodys help. still when i put it on the vents it sounds like air want to come out but doesnt. is there a way to clean my vents? the mecanism that moves the flap is work, i watched it rotate. gonna get a knew vacuem hose. but any other ideas would be great. thanks everybody.
