Heater water flow control valve

I got an 01 sahara with 4.0 5speed and I got a manual cable control valve I want to install in the heater water line so I can cut off or reduce the hot water flow to the heater core. In the summer months I will have that control valve closed probubly for several months at a time. will this casue any problems ? thanks
