Heavy duty skid plate option

Did Jeep ever have an option for a heavy duty skid plate package? I was told the option included a steering box, engine/tranny skid, and a heavier gas tank skid. Are they any good?

I managed to dent my 3/16 aftermarket gas skid going up Firebreak 5, so IMO, I don't think the OEM HD factory skids would fare as well.

1998 TJ Moss Green Sahara w/ numerous scratches & dents whose playground is on a tropical island that's 33 miles long and 4-12 miles wide, in year-round 82 degree weather

Edit: "Now jeepin in Oregon"

I think my Jeep came with some package. It had a 9.5TI, Mopar Rockcrawler bumpers and steering box skid, Mopar rock sliders, and Mopar/Warn looking engine skid. I don't think the PO installed it because he was a Mallcrawler and I doubt he would spend $1200 on a winch and $800 in bumpers just to look cool.

Don't worry though the package isn't that great. When I got it the Winch was so rusted that I couldn't even engage it, and the first time I hit the Warn engine skid it bowed in so badly I couldn't get it back on. I changed the Mopar bumper for something that could be use with an Antirock and the rear Mopar bumper was pathetic. Up next is changing out the sliders as they just don't fit my needs anymore.

The only thing that was nice about it was the Warn winch. I'm thinking maybe this package was dealer installed but I don't have the window sticker.

There were Mopar aftermarket skids, bumpers and some other stuff available. All of it was made by another aftermarket manufacturer and rebranded with Mopar on it.

Also, the gas tank skids switched designs in 2000-2006 or somewhere around there. They went to a thicker, heavier skid with more coverage vs the thin sheet metal early version.

Here's some good aftermarket skid manufacturers:
