hella e-code lens & h4 bulb questions?

Wondering if the e-code hella light assembly is made of plastic or glass? I've read that the kc replacement lights are plastic and prone to yellowing & breaking where the bulb attaches. I'm looking to get the 65/55 h4 blue bulbs. Their ad says the light from this bulb is more the color of daylight & not any of those really blue or other funny looking colors? If anyone has this setup please tell me your likes & dislikes about them. Thanks for the help!

I have the hella e-code housing and it is made of plastic. Nice quality and not like other that I have seen. I installed the DDM 55w slim HID kit on mine and turned out great! If I remember correctly, the h4 bulb is 6k. The difference is night and day. I highly recommend it.

Are you positive that your Hella E-Code lenses are plastic? I've owned two sets in other sizes and they were glass and I planned on buying another set now that I have my Wrangler. First Hella starts selling 500s at Wal-Mart and now they're cheaping out with plastic lenses on their e-code lenses?

Thanks,

Wes

My 6-year old Hella E-Code lamps are all glass. Great investment, glad I made it.

I couldn't get the rubber dust bootie on the back of the light with enough light bulb prong engagement to use the OEM wire harness, so I left the rubber dust bootie off without any real consequence, but if you wanted to use it (which I'd do if I started over), then just make 3 little pigtails to attach to the factory 3-prong plug.

I was just looking at these on line and 4wd parts has a DOT and a Non-DOT version. Legalities aside has anyone compared the two as to which has better light quality? I really need to replace my headlights and want to go with the better of the two. Thanks
