Hello and hard top question

Hello all! My name is Bryan and I am new to the site and wanted to say hi. I previously owned a 66 and then a 71 Bronco but I saw the light and purchased my first jeep the other day. I got a 2005 Wrangler. It has the soft top and half doors which I love. I am that guy you see in December with the top off and a jacket and stocking cap on so the soft top made the most sense for me. It has a 2in lift with Mickey Thompson wheels and BF Goodrich AT's(32x11.50). My wife asked me a question which I did not know the answer to so I figured I would come here for an expert opinion. My question is if I ever did want a hard top what are my options for the doors? Would I have to get the full doors or is there some kind of aftermarket configuration I could buy for the half doors. I am new to the jeep culture and don't really know where to look for things like this. Thanks in advance for the help.

All hard and soft tops work equally well with any of the factory doors for '97 and newer Wrangler TJs. So you wouldn't need to do or buy anything to mount a hard top. You can run full or half doors with hard or soft tops, any combination.

And a big welcome to WF Bryan.

When you have a choice, buy American.

The trouble comes when you have a hard top and want a soft top. Gotta get the header bar, tailgate bar, frame, door surrounds and top.

I have only had full doors but....

I think you have a few options. If you want to keep the half doors and windows you have with a hard top for winter it will work but be careful because scrapers and plastic windows are not friends.

You could also get hard uppers to go with your hard top like these which have real glass.
Jeep Upper Doors, Jeep Doors, Jeep Wrangler Doors, Jeep Half Doors
Hardtop Upper Doors by Bestop® and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware-RH2

For the price of the hard uppers you could probably get some full doors from the WF classifieds, eBay, Craigslist, or your local paper.

All in all, find some Jeepers in your geographical location and get their opinions. I have a feeling its your wife that wants to stay warm in the winter anyway.

go to your local scapyard and find some full doors for cheap and then u can paint them to fit your jeep if they don't already! i would call around before u spend money on new ones just salvage them off another jeep similar to yours

If you get a hard top and want to stick with the half doors, there are also hard upper doors that work well with the hard tops.

Bestop® Upper Doors with Glass Sliding Windows - Quadratec

or these
