Help

I was wondering what would happen if I cut my catalytic converter off? I was thinking if I could do that and add flowmasters. Or would it be better to keep my catalytic converter and add flowmasters. What are the pros and cons? And would it sound louder without the cat?

It would be louder without the cat. . . .I dont know too much about this but i think you should leave it on. . . engines need some sort of back pressure.

It is against federal law to not have a CAT.

Don't know what state your in but it may be needed for emission testing, and it is illegal.

Here in nj you need the to pass emission testing so I cut mine right after and ran a turn down.. After I pass inspection I am cutting off the cat as well.. Will not hurt your engine. It will also give you a little more power

Pros are:

power
In theory better gas mileage
No harm to engine

Cons are:

It's a louder ride
It smells a little funky

I would recommend for a nice sound and good power cutting at cat and adding a 16in cherry bomb to a turndown.. Sounds great and isn't too obnoxious

There mild the flow master super 40 is a little better but your best bet is a cherry bomb glass pack.. If you get a 16in it will fit in stock spot where muffler goes. That my friend sound great

Just because your state doesn't check for them doesn't change the fact that by law your vehicle must have all factory emissions equipment. And if you have a tj it has sensors and your engine will run like shit from it thinking it need more o2. My wife's car has 2 and it doesn't even run properly with a non oem cat.
