HELP Auto Tranmission Not Shifting

On the way to work today my check engine light came on and my jeep wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear, I ran the code and P0700 came up, what should I check first? I can't be limping around in 2nd gear all day.

it would help if you told us the year on your jeep & what engine you have. the tranny is in limp mode. you need to take the jeep to a transmission shop so they can tell whats wrong & fix it.

If memory serves me, P700 is set when the trans computer portion picks up a fault.
If it happens multiple times, it will set code(s) that have to be deeper scanned to access.

Can't be done with an OBII scanner, you will need an OBIII to get into the codes for the tranny.

And like Unlimited said, it needs a tranny shop or shop with the capabilities to check it out for you.
