Help buying first wrangler

There is a wrangler locally for sale with 33 inch tires. Its a 2000 with the 6 cylinder engine.

Does it matter if they changed the rear end to accommodate for the larger diameter tires or should I not worry about it?

Also, when you buy a jeep do you generally pay more for one with a lift, or other add ons?

thanks

dm

Stock axles and gears should be ok for 33" tires. Your speedometer might be a bit off, but not much. Your performance will suffer a bit, but not much, especially if you have a manual. Most of the issues and problems start with tires over 33" and lifts over 3-4".

Yes, you generally pay more for lifts and add-ons, but way less than you might expect. People do not generally get their money back on stuff. So a $1,000 lift might increase selling price a couple hundred bucks.

It's not uncommon to see an ad that says "Over $20,000 invested. Will sell for $8,000 OBO."

So true.

And the rest of Geoff's post is true as well.

what did they change the rear axle too? As for mods.. depends what it is and what condition its in. Unless the price is great, the mods are in great shape, and I can't live without the jeep.. I will try and find a stock one to start my build.
