Help Installing a new radio on my baby

Hello Everyone,

I purchased this radio Dual XHD7714 back in Dec 2011 and since then never got the chance to replace the factory radio that was installed on my Jeep Wrangler 2002 X

Today, a good friend of mine, got his hands on my baby and removed it.

Now we realize that we need an dash kit to fit the new radio in.

I never done radio installation before and I would like some advice.

I found the following kit online Scosche-CJ1278B that by reading the reviewers someone used it on the same car and worked.

Also the radio came with his own wiring harness but it will be nice if I dont have to cut any cables.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yep, got mine of crutch field. Payed $89 for the radio (Kenwood kdc 252u) and free installation kit. They give you everything you need.

If you don't want to wait just hit bestbuy; they are very cheap and hopefully the install people will have a kit onhand. Since it's a very common install, Wally world might even have it on hand; but overall, Crutchfield, Sonic Electronix, and Amazon will be cheaper.

As far as installation goes it's extremely easy; match the colored wires on the stereo harness to the wires on the vehicle specific wiring harness (also available at best buy). I would use waterproof butt connectors in a jeep but that's personal preference.

Hope you have more luck with that radio than I had; the same thing came in my vette and I couldn't stand it for more than a week.....then an Alpine replaced it!

Like has been said, Crutchfield is the best place for this kind of thing. Now if you didn't buy from them, I don't know if they will help or not. When you buy from them, not only will they include all necessary install kits (most of em free), but will give you unlimited tech support and even stay on the line with you and talk you through and rough spots if needed.

Radio is already purchased

I took a look at the Crutchfield site but it seems that help is provided only if you purchase the radio from them and my radio is already purchased.

Did you guys know what kit is going to fit right on my car? Cause at this point, I am willing to do it myself.

I found one on amazon but I am not sure if it will do the job.

Also, I'll try to contact Crutchfield and see what they have to say.

As a heads up I purchased an Alpine radio from Best Buy that Crutchfield had on sale for $129. The price matched and threw in the wiring harness kit and mounting bezel for free so a straight match.

I did need to pull it up on my smartphone and play the I will just buy from CF and wait but they met the bundled price.

I put a JVC in my 05 about three weeks ago. Didn't have to cut any of the body harness wires. Just used a Scosche faceplate adapter which also supports the radio, and a wiring harness adapter from AutoZone. Joined the radio's connector to the harness adapter with solder and heat shrink tubing (you could use crimp type butt splices too). The wires matched color for color including any stripes. Then just mount the radio in the Scosche unit, plug in your new connector cable, connect the antenna cable (mine needed an adapter from AutoZone) and mount the unit with the original hardware.

Took more time tracing out a busted connection in my subwoofer than installing the radio. Works great too.
