Hey guys, my name's Jim and I recently purchased a '97 TJ. Just about an hour ago I put it into 4 wheel high (not the first time) and when I let up on the clutch all I heard was a hellacious grind from the transfer case. 2 high works fine as does 4 low. If I ease the trans. case lever the slightest bit back towards 2 high it'll engage and drive, but I'm wary. If I pull the lever all the way back to 4 high (where it stops moving backwards befrore the neutral position) it just grinds when I let off the clutch. What the hell is going on? It was working fine last weekend.
