Help me decide what to do with my grille

Hey everyone... I wanted your help on what to do with my grille. Earlier today i installed some bushwacker fender guards and a hood guard to protect it from stone chipps on the highway. You can't see it from this pic, but my grille is really chipped up. Should i get a grille overlay, or try paint it myself? I'm not very good at painting, so I'm not sure if thats a good idea for me. I saw at quadratec they have a Mr. Grille ABS plastic overlay in black for a resonable cost. But I'm not sure if that would be too much black since i put on the bushwacker stuff. I also like the Hunter Camouflage, but that is kinda spendy. Let me know what you all think.
thanks

You can do a spray on bed liner or have it done professionally. Or have it wrapped in Vinyl possibly a digital camo?

I say go with the spray on bedliner. Prep the grille, hit it with two or three coats and then if you want to you can always go with a few coats of gloss white after that to blend it back in with the rest of the Jeep or leave it black.

Or just not worry about it because whatever you do will end up chipped again anyway.

SCOTIEZ....where you been hiding?

Anyway....Bedlining the grill is a good option as is painting it black. Looks good on white jeeps.

I usually come online atleast once a night and take a look at the new posts. I don't say much though .... kinda quiet here.

I was thinking of doing it in black. I'm just not sure about doing it myself... maybe the overlay from quadratec would be smarter for me. For a split second i was thinking about the chrome overlay, but then i woke up from that nightmare

With overlays...all I've seen is them trapping dirt and little water behind them and causing rusting...Rust is the issue with me on them.

If you aren't up to painting or lining the grill yourself maybe check into having a shop paint or line it for you.

Let us know what you decide bud.

Well i am going to go with the overlay. I found some spray on bedliner at a local autoparts store but i don't want to do that... It's to permanent. And if I don't like it, I can't reverse it. I would rather go with the overlay because if I don't like it then I can always remove it.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I really appreciate it.

VERY WISE CHOICE SCOTIEZ!

If someone is "on the fence" about bed-liner for any reason,
I strongly suggest that they take a look at the picture below.
Just as you said, that stuff is too permanent.
Once it's on, it's there for good, and whether you like it or not
YOU'RE STUCK WITH IT!

Here is a picture of a truck that was Line-X'd:
(I took the pic myself at a local Line-X shop couple weeks ago)

This coating was applied 8 years ago.
(and yes...it has the special Kevlar UV coating on it)
It doesn't hold the color and look that it claims to, does it?
I was considering doing this to my pick-up before I saw this Monstrosity.
Thank God I was able to see what this garbage is going to look like with time.
Now...I won't even consider it for a bed-liner.

I'm not saying that it's a useless product,
but people need to see what it will look like with time.
And if someone isn't 100% sure that this is what they want,
THEY DEFINITELY NEED TO SEE THIS PICTURE!

Oh yeah...here's what a new coat of it looks like.
Pretty big difference eh?

My jeep is white also, and I am interested in how that grille cover would look. If/when you get it, would love to see a picture!

Received the Mr. Grille overlay today. I had to do a little trimming around the headlight openings for it to fit properly. I also put some black headlight bezels on instead of the chrome. I really like the looks of it. Here's a pic i took after i had it done. I'll take some more later when i get a chance. The Overlay is real easy to put on and remove. I think this is perfect choice for me instead of painting or using bedliner on the grille. I can easily take it off to clean under it or remove it if i want something different for a day or so.

That looks nice. I was thinking about getting some black grill inserts and trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the grill. I think you answered my question.

Thumbs up

That looks great with the fender and hood guards.
What holds it on?

The Fender and Hood guards are held on by really really sticky 3m tape. The same type of tape that car body moldings are held on by. A person has to be very carefull to get the guard in the right spot before touching it to the vehicle cause it sticks right now. The Grille overlay is held on by the headlight bezels. I may later on use some double sided tape for the center but i'll see how it is over time. It's ok just the way it is for now though.

Here are some better pictures. Last night the sun was going down fast and didn't have much time to take any good ones. I really like the way it turned out. Should have done it a long time ago.

Scotiez, I like the looks of the jeep. What brand are the hood and fender guards? Can you post a close up pic of the front of your jeep?

That looks great. I went with the black inserts and lens surrounds on my red TJ. Thanks for the picture.

Scotiez, Do you know if grill inserts will fit after you put the grill guard on? I noticed you can see the white paint behind the guard.

I don't know if they will fit. I have never had them. The Mr grill overlay doesn't go all the way back on the ribs, but I kinda like that you can see a little white on the ribs.
