Help me spend my money.

Well I went to Wheelin in the Country for New Years. I had a blast. (other than putting up with Drunks) Well the bug has bitten me harder now than ever before. I need some help choosing the next step in the project. This is a list of what I currently have:
2003 Wrangler
4 cyl
5 spd
Dana 30, 35
4.10 Gears
31 x 10.50 x 15 Pro-Comp Xterrians
Black Steelies
Stage 2 chip
2" RE Buget Boost
Warn M8000
Warn Rockcrawler Front Bumper
Various recover equipment
Hi-Lift

I am probally missing some stuff but you get the idea. Now, I "came across" a little over $500. I can come up with some more if I need to. WHat should I buy with it. I want a more capable rig. I mostly do trail rides, some mud, a very little rock (daily driver). But with a more capable ride I would be willing to try some harder trails. I am considering several things to aid in this.

1. Locker, Something selectable
2. Armor, Rock sliders, corner guards rear bumper
3. save up for 4" LA kit
4. Tummy Tucker
5. Rear axle
6.??????

Please help me chose something that will be the best bang for the buck. I am open for any and all sugestions.

I wouldnt put lockers and a 4" lift on a 4 cyl. with a D35 rear man, I would think about getting a straight 6 then doing all the mods if your going to be getting into alot of wheelin.

i would change out the axels. The 2.5 is a capible engine. You can still wheel with it and when you get the cash get a 4.0

Here's what we need to know, did you have any problems getting threw anything when you were off road? If so what did you have a problem with? If it's a daily driver with a 4 banger and 4.11 gears I would say you shouldn't go over a 33" tire without changing the gears out, I wouldn't waste the money on a locker for a D35. If your going to put new gears in it, put a locker in it, stronger axle shafts, well you might as well move up to a D44 or a Ford 8.8

As far as lifts go, we need to know what size tire your willing to go to.

33" tires can be run with as little as 2.5" but will be happier with 3.5"

35" tires can be run with 3.5" but will be happier with 4.5"

Once you go over 3.5" of lift you run into needing a SYE and CV drive shaft.

It sounds like you have some heavier bumpers and a winch on the jeep, your going to want HD springs or your springs will sag and you will loose some of your lift.

There is a ton of ways to spend money on a jeep, but the best thing to spend it on is something that will help you wheel better in your location.

If you got stuck, tell us how, and we will show you what you need to not get stuck next time.

Great signature, but don't you think it's a little more important when cops pull people over for tinted windows and loud radios then when you save people from a burning building. +1 for firemen

save a few hundred more and get a Super 35 for the rear and an Aussie for the front.
Then a tummy tuck and wheel the crap out of it on 31's and embarrass the guys on 33's and 35's

ill second that, for the money, you can get a locked and beefed up 8.8, i'd even bet you could find 2 sets of quarter ton axles at a junkyard. build those up... or you could build an air compressor with that money, i got a how to thread here on how to do it for 80 bucks! good luck and tell us what you end up buying

Ok so a little more info on my Jeep. Right now it is a DD, but here before the summer it will become a "toy". (new addition to the family so we have to get a bigger vehicle, WIFE TOLD ME I CAN NOT SELL OR TRADE IN JEEP, NO SHE IS NOT AVAIABLE! BUT SHE DOES HAVE A GOOD LOOKING SINGLE YOUNGER SISTER)
ok back to the jeep.
Mostly I am wanting to build a low slung all-around vehicle. The motor will be replaced with something in the V-8 family, but not for a while. Axles, I am open for suggestions, I was thinking 44's to start with, until the V-8 comes around.
Off-road, mostly on climbs, I get stuck. Not enough traction. I have enough torque, just lacking in the clearance and traction department. I have not had a problem with the mud, I just make sure there are tracks coming out the other side! I am willing to go up to a 33 on these axles, but if I do I want to upgrade the shafts, and such. I like the way Never Monday thinks, kinda along the same lines as me. I want to be the guy who pulls up to an obstacle and everyone is like "yeah right, he wont make it, somebody get the tow strap ready" and in the end I walk all over it.

as for the locker I was thinking something for the front, not the rear. The 30 is stonger than most give it credit. The 35 on the other hand...well....... Also other than a 8.8, 44, what are my options?

I totally understand the lifts and needs for a SYE and CV.
I am not ready to buy what I want yet.......-$

Orange I will write you a check for $30,000. You keep $5000 of it for the trouble and western union the rest back to me. Dont worry I just did that for a guy from South Africa, he was real nice!

emev01, thank you! We had that put on the back of our shirts 2 years ago for a charity softball game. we lost 2 years in a row, so the 3rd year our shirts read," We may lose but in the end we still aint COPS!"

Thanks everyone for thier help. I really dont know what to buy next.

if you want to move to the V8 world. don't spend a lot on a middle build of 44's.
get some croMo shafts for the 35 and wheel it as is. Start gathering parts for the big build.

37's minimum
4 link rear stretch to 100"
3 link front
hydro steering
60's

there are other options and ways to build. It's just where do you want to be in "x" years.
Wheeling in the SE you have rock and mud. The rock can be technical when dry and a real PIS when wet.

go here and read http://pirate4x4.com/forum/
there are thousands of builds in the Jeep-hardcore and Jeep-non hardcore sections

whatever you do don't post. They trash newbies for sport.
