I have read this again, and I think he might be talking about his TJ computer and he is trying to get the motor to go above 6000rpm. jmo?

you might want to read it again.. it says it wont increase the motor TO 6000 rpm

With the extra fuel added by the chip, i dont see the problem of getting a fuel cutoff limit at 6k instead of 5200.

also what do u mean by "burn 2 computer"?

you might want to call hypertech and ask them for help.

He wants to raise the rev limiter from the stock 5300 or so to 6000. Waist of time it's not like your little 4 cylinder that will rev up to 7k. This isn't a high reving engine and it would see no gain in doing so and also after a while you may throw a rod or somthing because it isn'nt designed to rev to 6k.

I knew exactly what he was saying, hes ricing up his Jeep and he now wants a VTEC with the ability to rev to 8500rpms.
He basically wants to hack his computer to remove the rev limiter which it sounds like hes tried and blown several up which is actually fortunate because if they didnt blow he would blow his engine

Sorry if I though it was a joke, guess your just stupid

The cold air intake and the free flowing exhaust help in the high rpms. Also just because Jeep limited it at 5200 doesnt mean you cant rev it higher. It will not explode at 5201rpm.. trust me on this

How about looking at it this way
Your jeep came with 17" tall coils in front.. why are you running longer ones?

I agree it won't blow at 5,201 it wont blow at5,301 for that matter. But don't these motors 4 or 6 cyl, make there power on the low end and any time or money spent getting it to rev to 6 or higher be wasted for very little gain? idk

Well he already got the rest of the mods to help the high end and the chip helps with the needed fuel.. if the chip allows it to reise fuel cutoff to 6k.. thats just an extra.

back when i had my miata (4 banger) people made those things rev to 12k. With some straight pipes at that rpm those motors will give you a hard on.

If you read I said it isn't like your normal ohc 4cylinder. That most 4cylinders can do 7k with little or no mods except for the rev limiter raise. Also if he really wants to raise the rev limiter I would say 5500 would be okay.

It's really not worth it because the stock porting will not flow very well at high rpms. Also the stock cam isn't the proper lift/duration and overlap to produce power at high rpms. Even the cam he has isn't going to make power at 6k.

The 4 cyl, if that is what he has is a good little motor if left stock and taken care of. The 4 in your Miata is a whole different beast with a lot of potential if done right and capable of turning high revs all day. Oh well it's his motor.

Ya weather it's the 2.5 or 4.0 it's a push rod valve train not a dohc. Also at high rpms the valves can start to float with the stock springs.

I've dynoed so many cars I can tell you for sure without a collosal amount of mods and probably an engine change your going to be way out of the power band much over 5k on a stock TJ let alone pushing it higher

honestly i do man,

Taking the top down in couple of seconds, having it handle like a roller coaster around turns.. eehhh great memories. I'm planning on getting another one and rebuilding it from scratch with a supercharged or turbo charged 5.0 in it.

It's OK Trip...we'll still respect you.

However, make sure you mark it clearly so we don't accidently drive over it in the mall parking lot.

The entire swap only adds 350 lbs bringing the weight to about 2500-2600 lbs... meaning 302, large rims and tires to handle to torque, heavy duty springs with shocks (struts to be exact), 8.8 rear end, i think it was T5 tranny, stronger drive shaft, dual 2.75-3" exhaust from engine to rear. Stronger engine support. front and rear strut bars.
I've seen V8 conversions that pull stuff for weight reduction bringing it nearly back to stock weight.

weight distribution being F52/R48 stock and F54/R46 with the V8

Many people think the stock miata engine weights nothing as its only a 4 banger.. well that thing is pure iron lol. People add over 25 lbs of boost on stock block and it holds without a problem (obviously new crank, pistons and rods needed)

MOz i'll put one of those offroad flags for ya
